“Korisu Day – Amal merekesi” was celebrated in Vilnius

On March 14, 2024, “Korisu Day – Amal merekesi” was celebrated at the Embassy of Kazakhstan by master’s students of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of central and local government bodies, who arrived for an internship in Lithuania, together with representatives of the Kazakh diaspora of the “NurSaule” society and students.

Guests from Kazakhstan greeted their fellow countrymen and compatriots from Lithuania with songs and told news from their homeland. According to Kazakh tradition, the meeting participants congratulated each other on the onset of spring, exchanged gifts and treated themselves to baursaks. Lithuanian Kazakhs were given a dombra, brought from their homeland, so that steppe music could be heard in Lithuanian families.

Ambassador Timur Urazaev spoke about the history of the celebration of Korisu Day - Amal merekesi, preceding Nauryz, which has sacred meaning and symbolizes the unity of the Kazakh people.

Kazakhs from the diaspora told guests from Kazakhstan about joint projects with the Embassy to promote Kazakh culture in Lithuania, shared news from everyday life and plans for the future.

The dombra donated by the APA master's students will find its place in the exhibition of the Lithuanian House of National Communities, where the Abu Nasr al-Farabi (ancient Turkic philosopher and thinker) Center operates.
