On the eve of celebrating the Independence Day of Kazakhstan, Ambassador Timur Urazayev held a meeting with the Lithuanian media editors-in-chief and journalists, where he shared about the current development of Kazakh-Lithuanian relations, the political and socio-economic modernisation processes in Kazakhstan, and the position of our country on pressing international issues.
The participants of the meeting were keenly interested in the work of the reshaped Majilis of the Parliament following the parliamentary elections in March this year, and the check-and-balance system operated by the legislative authority of Kazakhstan.
The Ambassador informed about the parties and factions included in the Parliament, the work of the relevant committees, and the cooperation of inter-parliamentary groups of friendship “Kazakhstan-Lithuania” in the Majilis of Kazakhstan and Seimas of Lithuania.
Journalists expressed interest in the measures adopted in Kazakhstan to attract foreign investment, including those stipulated by the new Decree of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev “On measures to enhance the work efficiency to attract investment in the country’s economy”.
T.Urazayev mentioned that the strengthening of the Council for Attracting Investments under the Government, and the expansion of its competencies are among the innovations implemented. All these changes aim to achieve the goal outlined in the September State of the Nation Address: transition to a new economic model and increase the volume of the national economy by 2029 by twofold - up to $450 bln.
The Ambassador also commented on the current situation in Kazakh-Lithuanian cooperation in trade and economic sphere, culture, education and tourism, which are essential components of bilateral relations.
The meeting participants were provided with materials on the Head of States’ participation in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP-28) held in Dubai, Kazakhstan’s achievements and plans in the field of “green” initiatives, and signed agreements at the summit.
Gratitude was extended to journalists for their objective and unbiased assessments of the major events in Kazakhstan, necessary for the effective development of Kazakh-Lithuanian co-operation in diverse spheres.
