Kazakhstan Embassy held a briefing on upcoming parliamentary elections

Ambassador Timur Urazayev met with the Lithuanian representatives of the Parliament, the Foreign Ministry, the media, and local businesses

and told about the innovations of the upcoming March 19 elections to the Mazhilis of the Parliament and the maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In particular, it was noted that the elections are related to the constitutional reform, which the citizens of Kazakhstan supported at the referendum in June 2022. This is the last stage of reforms necessary for a qualitative renewal of the electoral legislation and the composition of the legislative bodies in the capital and locally.

Lithuanian parliamentarians and Kazakhstan’s diplomats exchanged opinions on innovations in Kazakhstan's electoral system, measures being taken to ensure free and transparent parliamentary elections, and other issues.

Lithuanian partners have permanently attached importance to the development of democratic institutions and standards in the countries of the Eurasian region, are constantly in contact with Kazakhstani parliamentarians, and follow the transformations in our country.

Special attention is paid to developing the Kazakh-Lithuanian political dialogue, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations between our countries.
