Kazakhstan Strengthens International Cooperation on Energy Security

Vienna, May 10, 2024 – A delegation of experts from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan participates in the OSCE Workshop “Building Climate Resilient Energy Systems in the OSCE Region”, held in cooperation with the Argonne National Laboratory of the US Department of Energy.

In the framework of the workshop, experts from OSCE participating States address the challenges posed by the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events, such as droughts, floods and extreme temperatures. These phenomena pose significant security threats to the energy sector.

Speaking at the event, members of the delegation stated that Kazakhstan, like all Central Asian states, is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change and fully supports the OSCE's timely call to promote sustainable energy systems.

Kazakh experts reaffirmed their commitment to international cooperation in the field of energy security and green technologies to share best practices and transfer carbon-free technologies. Joint efforts in this area will bring together scientific achievements and expertise from different countries and improve the quality, speed and efficiency of research and development. In this context, Kazakhstan is calling for joint, coordinated action at the global, regional and national levels on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
