The delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in UNODC anti-corruption meetings

June 16, 2023, Vienna – In the period from June 12 to June 16, 2023, the delegation of Kazakhstan headed by Deputy Prosecutor General Ulan Baizhanov took part in meetings organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime under the UN Convention against Corruption in Vienna, Austria.

During the visit, Kazakh prosecutors held talks with representatives of the European Court of Auditors, law enforcement agencies of Europe, Asia and other jurisdictions in order to develop international legal cooperation on the return of assets of corrupt origin.

They also held a meeting with the leadership of the UNODC Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Branch and the UNODC and the World Bank's Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (StAR). As a result, an agreement was reached on the provision of assistance by the StAR Initiative to the national agencies of Kazakhstan in the effective implementation of modern institutions for asset recovery.
