Presentation of credentials to the IAEA and CTBTO

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to International Organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Kairat Umarov presented his credentials to the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi and the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Lassina Zerbo.

The IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi noted the historical contribution of the country to nuclear non-proliferation by hosting on its territory the unique IAEA Low Enriched Uranium Bank. For its part, the Agency stands ready to contribute to the effective implementation of advanced nuclear technologies to medicine, agriculture and other areas of industry in Kazakhstan.

The Executive Secretary of the CTBTO Lassina Zerbo recognizing the global efforts of the nation in nuclear disarmament highlighted the assigning the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev together with the former President of Finland Tarja Halonen with the title of the «Champions of nuclear test free world for a nuclear weapons free world».
