On July 3, 2025, with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan to the Holy See, a videoconference was held between the Kazakh corporate fund “University Medical Center” and the Vatican pediatric hospital “Bambino Gesù.”

The pediatric hospital “Bambino Gesù” is a leading children’s outpatient clinic and research Center in Europe. It is also the Italian «Orphanet» center, which houses the largest international database on rare diseases.

The meeting took place as part of the development of the agreements formalized in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the parties in 2022.

Leading Kazakh and Italian specialists in pediatrics, as well as the leadership of both organizations, participated in the videoconference.

During the videoconference, the parties presented detailed presentations dedicated to the structure, objectives, and achievements in the treatment of pediatric rare diseases.

Considering the scientific and expert potential of “Bambino Gesù,” an in-depth discussion was held on issues of diagnosis, treatment, and scientific research in epilepsy and pediatric neurology. The participants expressed interest in implementing joint projects, including professional internships, telemedicine, and collaborative clinical research.

Special attention was paid to the upcoming visit of the head of “Bambino Gesù” Tiziano Onesti to Kazakhstan this september. The Kazakh side proposed organizing meetings for T.Onesti not only with the leadership of UMC but also with other medical institutions in Kazakhstan.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold another videoconference in the near future to discuss joint initiatives in more detail.

The participants reaffirmed their mutual desire to strengthen cooperation, emphasizing that the partnership between UMC and “Bambino Gesù” will provide a solid foundation for the implementation of advanced practices in pediatric healthcare.
