Chair of the Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Mazhilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ms Aigul Kuspan took part in the annual session of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network.

On February 5–7, 2025, in Paris more than 200 participants – members of parliaments of the OECD and partner countries, representatives of international organizations and experts of the OECD discussed the development of the global economy, adaptation to climate change, energy transition, mechanisms of international assistance to social and economic development, development of AI, demographic policy and a number of other topics of the global agenda.

In her remarks at the session discussing the drafting of OECD Strategy on Development, Kuspan outlined that the Parliament of Kazakhstan is ready to participate in a meaningful dialogue within the OECD Global Parliamentary Network on issues of common interest for the states involved. The MP stressed that our country has accumulated solid experience in systematic cooperation with the OECD, and its high standards and practical recommendations are an important guideline for implementing reforms in many areas of the country's economic, social and political development. In this regard, the legislature is interested in supporting mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OECD and strengthening the law-making activities of the Government and Parliament.

In addition, she held a meeting with Head of the OECD Secretariat’s Eurasia Division William Tompson, at which they discussed topical issues of Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the OECD, including the implementation of practical recommendations towards developing and implementing reforms in the socio-economic sphere.

The OECD Global Parliamentary Network, established in 2011, is an international platform for norm-setting in the OECD members and partners. The network structure allows MPs to share experiences, identify best practices and promote international cooperation in the legislative field. Currently, the Network unites more than 1,200 participants from more than 90 countries around the world.

Kazakhstan has been cooperating with the OECD since 2008 within the framework of its Eurasian Competitiveness Program and, since 2015 within the framework of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding, through regular industry reviews and expert studies on priority areas of the country's economic, social and political development.
