New Publication Highlights Cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNESCO

Paris, December 12, 2024 – During the annual official reception of ASPAC (Asia-Pacific Group) Member States at UNESCO, a thematic brochure in English was presented, showcasing the cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and UNESCO.

The publication highlights key achievements and significant projects undertaken by Kazakhstan in collaboration with UNESCO since joining the Organization in 1992. It emphasizes the country’s contributions to the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, as well as advancements in education, science, information, and communication.

The brochure also provides a comprehensive overview of Kazakhstan's inscription on various UNESCO lists, including World Cultural and Natural Heritage sites, elements of the intangible cultural heritage, biosphere reserves, anniversaries of outstanding figures and events, national networks of UNESCO Chairs, Associated Schools, UNESCO Clubs, and category 2 centres under the auspices of UNESCO.

In his speech, Askar Abdrakhmanov, Permanent Delegate of Kazakhstan to UNESCO, expressed gratitude to the Member States for their consistent support of Kazakhstan's initiatives, which aim to further strengthen multilateral cooperation for sustainable development.

The event served as an effective platform for the informal exchange of views among ASPAC members on topics related to UNESCO's mandate.

The ASPAC Group is a diplomatic group at UNESCO Headquarters that comprises 44 countries from the Asia-Pacific region. It facilitates coordination and collaboration on the Organization’s platform. In 2024, the Permanent Delegation of Kazakhstan serves as the Secretary of the ASPAC Bureau.
