Permanent Delegation of Kazakhstan participated a High-Level meeting of the OECD Development Center Governing Board

Paris, December 10, 2024 – Permanent Delegation of Kazakhstan to International Organizations in Paris participated in the meeting of the Governing Board of the Development Center of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), held on December 9–10, 2024 on the topic "Financing the future: strategies for a just green transition".

The event was attended by President of Paraguay Santiago Peña, Vice President of El Salvador Félix Ulloa, Prime Minister of Peru Gustavo Adrianzén, Ministers, Ambassadors and other high-level representatives of 56 members of the Development Center, as well as international organizations.

Permanent Representative Askar Abdrakhmanov noted in his speech that Kazakhstan is actively working to implement ambitious decarbonization goals and ensure the transition to sustainable energy sources, in particular, to achieve the share of renewable energy sources to 15% by 2030 and 50% by 2050. At the same time, he stressed that achieving these goals will require not only the development of infrastructure and technology, but also significant investments in the clean energy sector.

The significant experience of the OECD Development Center can play an important role in further improving relevant government policies. Together with colleagues from the OECD, Kazakhstan government agencies have previously worked on these tasks within the framework of the Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-based Development – a platform that helps to use them efficiently for sustainable development.

In general, the readiness to continue cooperation with the OECD Development Center on the implementation of best practices and innovative technologies, as well as in the development of instruments for the effective allocation of financial resources to achieve this goal was noted.
