On February 21, 2025 a meeting between the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Beibut Atamkulov and the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov took place in Tashkent.
During the meeting, the results of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector in 2024 and the event calendar for 2025 was discussed.
The sides discussed the implementation of projects outlined in the Plan of Practical Actions and Decisions of the High Interstate Council, which were reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Kazakhstan in August 2024.
The discussion emphasized the need for collaboration and the expansion of cooperation between agricultural research institutes in the fields of breeding, seed production, soil science, and the rational use of water.
For reference: by the end of 2024, mutual trade amounted to $4.1 billion, of which agricultural products accounted for $1.66 billion (Kazakhstan's export to Uzbekistan – $1.41 billion, Kazakhstan's import from Uzbekistan – $250 million).
