The 12th meeting of the Transport Ministers of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held in Tashkent

Tashkent, November 2, 2023 - The 12th meeting of the Transport Ministers of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held. The Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by Vice Minister of Transport T. Lastayev.

During the meeting discussed issues of expanding cooperation in the field of trade and transport communications, the creation of new transport corridors, their effective use, strengthening international cooperation in this area.

As part of the development of the North-South international corridor, preferential tariffs for rail container transportation along the eastern branch of this route were discussed in order to ensure a through single tariff for shippers along the entire route.

On the margins of the event, a multilateral meeting of representatives of relevant ministries in the field of transport and railway administrations of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Turkey was also held. It was devoted to the formation of an international multimodal route "China - Kazakhstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Turkey - Europe", and its results were enshrined in the relevant protocol signed by the parties.

As a result of the meeting, the final document - the Tashkent Declaration - was signed.
