The round table on the topic "One Belt, One Road: New opportunities for Central Asian countries"

On October 11, 2023, the International Institute of Central Asia hosted a round table on the topic "One Belt, One Road: New opportunities for Central Asian countries". The event was organized on the eve of the upcoming Third Forum of International Cooperation in Beijing to discuss the implementation of the "One Belt, One Road" program in honor of the 10th anniversary of the initiative. The heads of diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic and China, as well as experts from analytical institutes took part in the round table. On the Kazakh side, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan B.Atamkulov and Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ye.Tukumov.

During the meeting, experts noted that over 10 years of work, the program has shown its effectiveness in mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and China.

During this period, transit and transport cooperation between our countries has become one of the most intensively developing areas of interaction.

The Central Asian countries pay considerable attention to the development of transport and transit infrastructure and actively participate in the initiative to revive the Great Silk Road.

As the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan B.Atamkulov noted in his speech, thanks to the implementation of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, the volume of container rail traffic in the East-West direction through the territory of Kazakhstan has significantly increased in recent years.

Currently, our joint efforts have transported more than 1.6 million containers (according to KTZ, from May 2014 to July 2023, more than 1.6 million containers or 46,606,196 tons were transported).

According to experts, our countries need to actively develop the "symbiosis" of our economies for the active exchange of goods and technologies.
