Today, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian states.

The Head of State has already held talks with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, where they discussed the state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations, as well as the implementation of agreements previously reached at the highest level.

The Meeting was held at the Kasri Millat Palace. It should be noted that for the first time in the history of such meetings of heads of state, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will take part as an honorary guest.

Following the summit, the Leaders of the Central Asian countries signed a Joint Statement on the results of the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States.

The initiative to hold consultative meetings of the heads of Central Asian countries was put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2017. The first summit was held in March 2018 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, the second — in November 2019 in Tashkent, the third — in August 2021 in the Avaza tourist zone in Turkmenistan. Last year, the summit of the heads of Central Asian countries was held in Kyrgyzstan.

Consultative meetings have become an important factor in international politics, they allow us to determine the further vector of development of Central Asia and develop joint approaches to solving regional problems.

With the participation of the leaders of the countries, a regular meeting of the Council of the heads of the founding states of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea is also planned to be held in the capital of Tajikistan.

In addition, an economic forum, an international exhibition of national products, a meeting of members of the dialogue of women leaders of Central Asia, an exhibition of artists, the first forum of rectors of higher educational institutions and a solemn concert of regional masters of culture and art will be held in Dushanbe these days.
