The Role of Youth in an Era of Geopolitical Instability

Strasbourg, October 22, 2024 – on the upcoming celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Consulate General held a “live chat” with Kazakh students studying in Strasbourg. The main theme of the discussion was: “The Role of Youth in an Era of Geopolitical Instability”.

 Valikhan Bakhretdinov, a member of the Bureau of the European Steering Committee for Youth of the Council of Europe and Director of the NGO “Ulan-Gayr Dala Eli” participated in the event.

During the dialogue, particular attention was given to the importance of fostering an active civic engagement among Kazakh youth and deepening their understanding of the modern challenges facing both Kazakhstan and the world at large.

Participants were informed about the current geopolitical situation and its impact on various aspects of life, including the economy, environment, education, and security.

It was mentioned, that in the context of increasing global geopolitical tensions, the youth play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their country and influencing global processes. Kazakh students studying abroad hold a unique position, as they are equipped with the knowledge and experience to contribute to solving global issues and to actively participate in international dialogue and initiatives.

The Kazakh students expressed interest in the key aspects of Kazakhstan’s youth policy, as well as in the activities of the Council of Europe in the youth sector.
