Prospects for Cooperation between KazMunayGas Engineering and French Universities

Paris, Nancy, Strasbourg, October 9-11, 2024 – During a working visit to France, Chairman of the Board of KMG Engineering (KMGI), Rakhim Uteyev, held meetings with the leadership and faculty members of several French universities (IFP School, IFP Training, Université de Lorraine, Université de Strasbourg) to strengthening academic ties and expanding the training of Kazakh specialists.

The discussions focused on education and training for Kazakh professionals in the fields of geology and the oil and gas industry, along with the exchange of information on the use of advanced competencies in these areas.

Mr. Uteyev proposed the possibility of launching KMGI programs for the training of Kazakh specialists, implementing joint R&D projects, supporting PhD programs, and organizing relevant academic internships.

In turn, French partners expressed their willingness to further develop contacts with their Kazakh colleagues in discussed areas.

The mentioned French institutions have substantial experience in training engineers in geology, geophysics, field development and operations, construction, design, groundwater studies, environmental science, energy, geothermal, and digital technologies, all of which are highly relevant for enhancing the competencies of Kazakh specialists.

In addition to technical areas in the oil and gas sector, discussions also covered energy transition projects, the exploration and development of “white” hydrogen, geothermal energy sources, water resource management, and other topics.

After exploring potential directions for joint development, both parties reviewed concrete steps and expressed mutual intent to further strengthen academic and technical cooperation.
