Reforms in Kazakhstan: from Intentions to Actions. New course of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

The 2019 change of leadership in Kazakhstan was marked by a reboot of the country's political system, key approaches to further development, and the implementation of political, social and economic transformations necessary under the current environment, as well as the relationship between the state and society.

At the same time, the two years of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's presidency were marked by serious tests both of his personal strength, and of the entire system of state power and administration, as well as of the country as a whole. The most large-scale of them was the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which caused illness and death of a numerous Kazakhstani citizens and other negative consequences in almost all spheres.

The Kazakhstan Council on International Relations has prepared a report on "Reforms in Kazakhstan: from Intentions to Actions. New course of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev", which presents an understanding of the real assessments of the political and socio-economic changes taking place in Kazakhstan in the context of the political course of the current leadership of the country.

The report contains measures on stabilization of current situation and further development of the country, reflecting the direct participation of the Head of the State in them. It is important that the principles of continuity, consistency and integrity in implementing the process of reforms declared at the very beginning of the path of independence are inherent in the leadership of the country.
