The President held a meeting on the implementation of the Alatau City project

On the sidelines of the Kazakh-Singapore Business Forum, important aspects of the implementation of the flagship Alatau City project in the Almaty region were discussed.

Welcoming potential partners, the Head of State noted the importance of Alatau City as a catalyst for the economy not only of Kazakhstan, but also of the entire Central Asian region. He said that the implementation of this project was discussed during negotiations with the President and Prime Minister of Singapore.

– We intend to build a completely new integrated metropolis in the style of Singapore, which can become a leading international business hub that meets international standards. Thoughtful infrastructure, the use of innovative technologies in housing construction, and an emphasis on promising industries are all critical elements that ensure the success of Alatau City as a sustainable development project. The development of innovative sectors such as IT, startups, research and development, sustainable production, renewable energy, agribusiness, and healthcare should demonstrate a departure from traditional resource-based industries. It is obvious that the creation of a green, sustainable and inclusive city requires intensive coordination of policy and investment conditions. Therefore, the Government of Kazakhstan has created the Alatau free Economic zone with an area of about a thousand square kilometers, - the Head of State said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked the Singapore company Surbana Jurong for developing a comprehensive master plan for the project. He also expressed confidence in the great potential of this initiative and called on representatives of the Singapore business to take an active part in its implementation.

The Akimat of the Almaty region, together with Caspian Group and Surbana Jurong company, developed the concept of the G4 City master plan for the development of the city in the Almaty region.

In January of this year, by Decree of the Head of State, the city of regional significance of Alatau Ili district was established. The Government approved the Master Plan of the city of Alatau and changed the borders of the Ili, Talgar districts and the city of Konaev. The President also approved the decision to expand the territory of the SEZ from 30 thousand to 96.5 thousand hectares and rename the name of the G4 City SEZ to the Alatau SEZ.
