Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Senior State Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore made a call on Mr. Beibut Atamkulov, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 4, 2020 in Nur-Sultan.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that Kazakhstan considers Singapore as an important partner in Southeast Asia in the implementation of strategic projects in infrastructure and logistics. The expansion of connectivity and multimodal transportation between countries will contribute to the successful implementation of projects within the "Belt and Road" and "Western China - Western Europe" initiatives.
Such interaction between our countries is natural and logical considering Singapore’s participation in the Chongqing Corridor project in China and Singaporean assets in China and Western Europe. The development of a new links will reduce the time of goods delivery from Central Asia to the coast of China by 3 times, opening access for goods from Europe and Asia to ASEAN countries, whose common market is about 660 million people.
They also discussed the important issue of opening direct flights between Kazakhstan and Singapore.
