On March 4th 2021, the Embassy organized a video conference with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand. The issues of the current state and strategic prospects of cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
The parties exchanged views on the international agenda, agreeing that there is a solid potential for interaction between Kazakhstan and New Zealand. Ambassador Arken Arystanov expressed hope for fruitful activities of the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in New Zealand, Mr Bryan Johnson.
Ms McLachlan, Divisional Manager, Europe Division, the NZ MFAT, noted the solid economic potential for interaction between the two countries, in particular, for the export of dairy products to Kazakhstan.
Ms McLachlan agreed that current trends require a greater involvement of New Zealand in the processes taking place on the Asian continent, and Kazakhstan's initiatives could become an important element of establishing a dialogue and creating confidence-building measures not only between individual countries but also between the regions of Central Asia and Asia-Pacific as a whole.
