Notice on Transition to Mandatory Online Appointment System for Visa Services

Dear Visa Applicants,

In order to optimize consular services and enhance processing efficiency, starting from October 1, 2026, the Consular Section of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai will fully transition to an online appointment system for all visa applications.

Please take note of the following arrangements:

  1. Consular Jurisdiction & Eligibility:

This appointment system and visa submission service apply strictly to citizens of the People's Republic of China who are officially registered (Hukou/residence) or conducting business/employed within the consular district of Shanghai.

The consular jurisdiction covers: Shanghai Municipality, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province, Fujian Province, and Jiangxi Province. Applicants residing outside this consular district are requested to apply to the competent Embassy or Consulate General of Kazakhstan in China covering their area.

  1. Cancellation of Walk-in Queuing (No Live Queue):

Starting from October 1, 2026, on-site walk-in applications without prior booking will no longer be accepted. All applicants must make an appointment online prior to visiting the Consulate General.

  1. Important Reminders:

Applicants must arrive strictly on their confirmed appointment date and time slot, carrying a complete package of hard-copy application documents, proof of residence/business within the consular district, and valid identification.

Applications from individuals without a confirmed online appointment will not be processed.
