Issues of expanding cooperation in food security and agriculture were discussed with the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company

On May 18, 2023, H.E. Mr. Berik Aryn, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia, met with Eng. Sulaiman AlRumaih, the Group CEO of Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC).

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to increase cooperation in agriculture and food security, including implementing the possibility of joint investment and commercial projects in the agro-industrial sector.

The Kazakh diplomat also shared information on the measures taken by the Government of Kazakhstan to develop the agro-industrial complex and presented investment opportunities and projects in this sector.

SALIC, which was established by Royal Decree in 2009 and wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), plays a crucial role in ensuring the food security of Saudi Arabia and maintaining food and price stability in the Kingdom. The company operates in several agro-industrial countries, such as Canada, Australia, Ukraine, Brazil, India, etc.

Last year, SALIC met 30 percent of Saudi Arabia's wheat needs and other essential food commodities by supplying the Kingdom with more than 1 million tons of wheat and 1.2 million tons of strategic commodities.
