The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expresses solidarity with the people of Kazakhstan

On January 18, 2022, H.E. Mr. Berik Aryn, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the OIC, held a meeting with H.E. Amb. Hissein Brahim Taha, the OIC Secretary General, at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on international issues of mutual interest and the current situation in the Islamic world. They also discussed further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OIC, including the implementation of Kazakhstan's initiatives within the OIC, such as the Islamic Organization for Food Security, Islamic Rapprochement, the establishment of the "OIC-15" Dialogue Platform, etc.

In addition, Ambassador Berik Aryn informed on the events that took place in early January this year in Kazakhstan. He noted that due to the decisive and timely measures taken by the Head of State, the situation has stabilized, and the CSTO countries are completing the withdrawal of their peacekeeping forces from Kazakhstan. At the same time, he stressed that the Kazakh people consolidated around the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to overcome the crisis and ensure the integrity and security of the country.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the OIC Secretary General for the timely statement made on January 6, 2022, regarding the situation in Kazakhstan, where the OIC conveyed solidarity with the Kazakh people in preserving the sovereignty, security, and integrity of the territory of Kazakhstan.

The OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha highly appreciated the activities of Kazakhstan within the framework of the Organization and assured that the General Secretariat would continue to support Kazakhstan's initiatives aimed at the development of the Islamic world. The Secretary General reaffirmed the solidarity of the OIC with Kazakhstan and wished the people peace and prosperity.
