On June 8, the Astana International Forum began its work in the capital of Kazakhstan.
The Astana International Forum was preceded by the success of the Astana Economic Forum. Its concept was developed to address four global issues: foreign policy, security and sustainability, energy and climate, and economics and finance. These key aspects underlie the mission of the current Forum - "Tackling Challenges through Dialogue: Towards Cooperation, Prosperity and Progress ".
More than a thousand guests from 70 countries take part in the Forum. Among them are the heads of foreign states and governments, heads of international organizations and major companies, prominent scientists and experts, representatives of the world's leading media, as well as foreign diplomatic corps accredited in our country.
The Forum was opened by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Kazakhstani Leader noted that the Astana International Forum is a dialogue platform with a mission of its own. The Head of State listed the key challenges facing the global community today, and stressed the importance of dialogue in the spirit of mutual cooperation and the renewal of a common culture of multilateralism, and the strengthening of voices for peace, progress and solidarity.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres addressed the forum participants with a video message.
Speakers at the Forum will also include the President of Kyrgyzstan, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, the Director-General of UNESCO, the Managing Director of the IMF, the Secretary General of OSCE, the UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, and many others.
