About the meeting at the Ministry of Transport of Latvia

Riga, March 2, 2023 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Latvia Timur Primbetov met with the new Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia Janis Vitenbergs.

At the beginning of the meeting, T. Primbetov congratulated his interlocutor on his appointment to a high position and wished him success in his work.

During the conversation, the parties discussed in detail the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the transit and transport sector, noting the priority importance of cooperation in this area for both states. In this regard, the need for closer attention and support from the side of state bodies and relevant departments of significant projects in the transit and transport sector was emphasized, including within the framework of existing bilateral administrative mechanisms: the Kazakh-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation , the Working Group on Transport and the Mixed Automobile Commission.

The parties also considered joint plans for the current year, which include holding a number of important events and visits. In particular, the participation of the Latvian representative delegation in the Astana International Forum in early June of this year, the holding of a regional business forum in Latvia in the same month with the participation of transport industry specialists and business circles from the Republic of Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries.
