The Embassy of Kazakhstan spoke about the upcoming referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the country

Riga, May 17, 2022 - A meeting was held at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Latvia with the Chairman of the Board of one of the leading Latvian media holdings "SIA Mediju nams" Nauris Kapostins and political observer of the daily social and political newspaper "Neatkariga Rita Avize" Ritums Rozenbergs.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan T.Primbetov informed the interlocutors about the upcoming republican referendum on June 5, 2022 on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which are necessary for the implementation of large-scale political reforms initiated by the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in order to build a "New Kazakhstan".

The Kazakh diplomat noted that the amendments to the Constitution are based on the most important requests of citizens and are being implemented in the interests of the whole society. In particular, we are talking about changes that provide for amendments to 31 articles and the addition of two new articles of the Constitution. The Constitutional reform means Kazakhstan's transition to a qualitatively new model of formation and interaction between state institutions and society.

At the end of the conversation, interest was expressed in continuing close cooperation between the Embassy and the publishing media holding in the implementation of joint image projects, including those dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Latvia.
