Issues of cooperation in the sports sphere were discussed

On September 23, 2021, Ambassador Timur Primbetov had meeting with the President of the Latvian Wrestling Federation, European champion in the 2007, eight-time Latvian champion Armand Zvirbulis. The Vice-President of the Latvian Wrestling Federation Igor Kostin also took part at the meeting.

A thorough exchange of views raised the issues of further development of cooperation between the countries in the field of sports and wrestling, activation of interaction between the sports federations of Kazakhstan and Latvia.

During the meeting, the possibility of organizing and holding a demonstration performance of Latvian wrestlers on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the legendary Kazakh wrestler Kazhymukan Munaytpasov was discussed. In this regard, it was noted that in 1909 in Riga Kazhymukan Munaytpasov became the world champion in classical wrestling.

The Latvian colleagues, in their part, told about the activities of the wrestling federation and the future priorities of the development of this kind of sport in Latvia.
