On sanitary and epidemiological requirements for persons arriving in Latvia

From January 25, 2021, persons arriving in Latvia by air, rail, sea, river and road transport must necessarily present a negative result for COVID-19 by PCR test, taken not earlier than 72 hours at the moment of crossing the state border of Latvia.

The requirement to submit a negative test for Covid-19 does not apply to:

  • children under 11 years of age;
  • persons who have received the required doses of COVID-19 vaccine;
  • air passengers who are in transit in Latvia and do not leave the airport controlled area;
  • members of diplomatic corps;
  • employees and crew members of carriers;
  • sailors going to or returning from work.

For other exemptions, details are outlined in paragraph 35 of Cabinet Regulation No. 360, "Epidemiological Safety Measures for the Containment of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection," dated June 9, 2020.

In addition, for persons arriving in the Republic of Latvia, it is still required to fill out a questionnaire on a specialized website "Covidpass.lv" not earlier than 48 hours before crossing the border of the Republic of Latvia.

The condition of mandatory 10-day self-isolation after entry from high-risk countries and other epidemiological safety measures established by the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) of Latvia also remains unchanged.

Epidemiological statistics on the incidence of COVID-19 in the European Union and third countries are updated every Friday on the CDPC website at the link: https://www.spkc.gov.lv/lv/valstu-saslimstibas-raditaji-ar-covid-19-0
