Rabat, December 12, 2024 - Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Asylov paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the meeting with the Minister of Justice of Morocco Abdel Latif Ouahbi, issues of bilateral cooperation in the fight against crime, ensuring the rule of law and international security were discussed.
The meeting resulted in the conclusion of interstate agreements on the extradition of criminals, on legal assistance in criminal cases, as well as on the transfer of convicted persons.
According to the head of the Kazakh supervisory body, the conclusion of such agreements with the Kingdom of Morocco is extremely important for Kazakhstan, since due to its geographical location, this country is a route connecting Africa with Europe through the Strait of Gibraltar.
At the same time, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan recalled that 12 years ago our country had already signed similar international agreements with a European state close to Morocco – the Kingdom of Spain.
By closing possible routes for criminals and strengthening mechanisms of legal interaction, Kazakhstan and Morocco have made a significant step in building a safe legal space that promotes the protection of citizens and the sustainable development of bilateral relations.
The parties emphasized with satisfaction that the signed international documents are intended to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries in the field of combating crime, in particular, its transnational types, and to make a significant contribution to ensuring law and order, protecting constitutional rights and legitimate interests of citizens of both countries.
