ADDRESS BY H.E. MR. KASSYM-JOMART TOKAYEV, THE PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN, ON THE OCCASION OF THE DAY OF CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

Dear compatriots,

I cordially congratulate you all on the Day of Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan!

Exactly 25 years ago, on the initiative of H.E. Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – the Leader of the Nation (Elbasy), the current Basic Law of the country was adopted. In the history of our statehood, a new page was opened, which determined the main direction of development of the Republic of Kazakhstan in difficult geopolitical conditions.

The Constitution enshrined the rights and freedoms of the citizen. Its principles of political and socio-economic order have become the reliable foundation of a just society and a strong state.

These fundamental principles, such as people’s rule (grass-roots democracy), equality, unity, supremacy of the law, are our inexplicable values. They determine the content of the long-term course for the comprehensive development of the country.

Our main law corresponds to the spirit of the times, relevant to the needs of the citizen.

The Constitution of Kazakhstan has a powerful creative potential for further evolutionary transformations of the political system and socio-economic relations.

I have no doubt that relying on the strong constitutional foundations of our state, ensuring public consent and political stability, continuing a constructive dialogue with civil society, we overcome together the current hardships and difficulties and achieve our desired target goals!

I wish all the Kazakhstani citizens good health, peace and prosperity!
