Letter of Support to His Excellency Honourable Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as Government and People of Kazakhstan
Your Excellency,
Assalamu alykum wa rahmatullah,
In your person, we salute and offer our greeting and prayers to all the Kazakhstani citizens, and particularly through the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan to our Muslim brothers and sisters.
Based on the statement of our beloved Prophet Muhammed, peace and blessings be upon him, where he said "Muslims are like one body, if one part of the body hurts, the entire body feels the pain". As the Muslims of South Africa, and in particular of Pretoria and its precincts of Laudium and Erasmia, we would like to express our sincere concerns regarding the current riots and disturbances in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan has always been a model of stability and peace in the region. We, therefore, support the Honourable President His Excellency Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and commend Kazakhstani leadership for facilitating dialogue and finding a solution that will ensure good governance and security of all its citizens irrespective of their religious and cultural affiliations.
We especially applaud reaching out to society, including the scholars and other religious representatives, to restore normalcy in Kazakhstan.
We acknowledge that criminals and political opportunists often take advantage of the legitimate grievances of the people and resort to violence and criminality to achieve their own agendas. This illegal and dangerous behaviour cannot be justified and the state reserves the right to restore the rule of law.
We know that His Excellency President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his administration have the interest of its people at heart, and will do whatever is necessary to restore peace, harmony and stability in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan is blessed with great resources and potential, which can be utilized for all its citizens.
The people of South Africa, and in particular the Muslim community, have developed a deep affinity for the people of Kazakhstan, mainly through the efforts of our respected brother the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Mr Kanat Tumysh, who has reached out to all communities and organizations, developing and cementing strong bonds of friendship between our respective countries.
We hope and pray that through the efforts of His Excellency President Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, his administration and the representatives of the Kazakh citizenry, peace and calm can be restored in Kazakhstan.
We also wish to convey our condolences to all the family members of the security forces and citizens who have lost their loved ones. May Allah Almighty ease their pain, grant them patience and solace in their time of grief.
We pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless the leadership and the people of Kazakhstan.
