A bike ride dedicated to 25th anniversary of Constitution of Kazakhstan held in Ottawa
OTTAWA: On August 29, 2020, a bike ride was held in the capital of Canada in Ottawa in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Canada. The route of the bike ride was a symbolic 25 km and passed through the center of Ottawa and the picturesque places of the Gatineau area.
The Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan (adopted at the republican referendum on August 30, 1995) is based on universal principles and defines a person, his life, rights and freedoms as the highest value. Citizens' health and social responsibility are priority areas for both the government of Kazakhstan and Canada.
As the Ambassador of Kazakhstan A. Kamaldinov noted, “the bike ride organized by the Embassy is an excellent way to express feelings of gratitude to the people of Kazakhstan, solidarity with them in this difficult time. Kazakhstan and Canada have a lot in common - these are similar natural and climatic conditions, both countries have a large territory and a relatively small population, rich in natural resources. Oil and uranium are also mined in Canada, and the country has a well-developed agriculture and transport infrastructure.
Our countries mutually cooperate both in a bilateral format and in the international arena. In foreign policy, Kazakhstan, like Canada, makes a significant contribution to strengthening international peace and security. We also actively interact with our Canadian partners within the UN system, OSCE, and other multilateral platforms».
«Non-professional athletes in Canada, as well as in Kazakhstan, are very fond of sports and outdoor activities. And if in winter it is - hockey, curling, speed skating and skiing, then in summer cycling, running and trekking are popular.
While developing bilateral relations with Canada, we try to build interaction, starting from common goals and potential opportunities. And one of these opportunities is sport», - A. Kamaldinov stressed.
