Business opportunities in Kazakhstan presented in Alta

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Norway, Yerkin Akhinzhanov, visited the northern city of Alta.

Ambassador met with the mayor of Alta, Monika Nielsen, and the Alta Chamber of Commerce members. Mr.Akhinzhanov spoke about Kazakhstan's modern development, the reform program of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and presented the investment opportunities in the country.

Kazakhstan is the largest economy in Central Asia. This is mainly due to the country's vast natural resources, including an abundance of natural minerals, hydrocarbons, and rare earth metals. It has a skilled workforce, and the economy is diversifying towards agribusiness, manufacturing, logistics, tourism, and mining. Kazakhstan is one of the world's top grain exporters. Since independence in 1991, the country attracted $330 billion worth of foreign direct investments. In the 2020 Doing Business Report by the World Bank, Kazakhstan ranked 25th globally.

Like in Alta, Kazakhstan has an important petroglyph site in Tamgaly, near Almaty. Promoting cultural and humanitarian relations was one of the themes for conversations during the Ambassador's visit.
