13.01.2022, Mexico City. The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Mexico organized an online briefing for local media in connection with the recent tragic events in Kazakhstan.
During the event, a detailed chronology of the events of early January 2022 in various regions of the country, as well as their main consequences, was presented. Representatives of the Mexican media were informed about the causes of the incident and the measures taken by the Kazakh authorities. Particular attention was paid to the fact that law enforcement agencies and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan opposed armed terrorists, and not “peaceful protesters”, as it was erroneously presented in a number of foreign media.
Local media were informed about the legal validity of Kazakhstan's appeal to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) with a request to send peacekeeping forces to the country. They were also informed about the completion of its mission and the beginning of the withdrawal from the territory of Kazakhstan from January 13 of this year.
In addition, it was noted that the situation in the country has now completely stabilized and is under the full control of the Kazakh authorities.
The Embassy informed about the formation of a new government of Kazakhstan headed by Prime Minister A. Smailov and about the priority tasks assigned to it by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.-J. Tokayev.
At the end of the briefing, a video about the tragic events in Kazakhstan was shown to the Mexican media, as well as answers to questions of interest were given.
