On the prospects for cooperation between the Central Asian nuclear-free zone and the Organization for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean (OPANAL)

In the run-up to the 30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, celebrated on August 29, a meeting was held today with the Secretary General of the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean (OPANAL), Mr. Flávio Roberto Bonzanini. During the talks, issues of institutionalizing cooperation between the Central Asian nuclear-free zone and OPANAL, whose members are 33 states of the region, were considered. In addition, plans were outlined for further cooperation between the Embassy and the Secretariat of the OPANAL.
