Joint statement of the heads of state of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on events in the Kyrgyz Republic

The ongoing events in fraternal Kyrgyzstan are of serious concern to us.

As close neighbours linked by centuries-old ties of friendship, good neighbourliness, and shared cultural and spiritual values, we call on the people of Kyrgyzstan to show their inherent wisdom in these difficult days in order to preserve peace and restore stability in the country.

We hope that all political parties and the public in Kyrgyzstan will make the necessary efforts to ensure peace and calm, resolve the issues that have arisen, while strictly observing the Constitution and national legislation.

The well-being of Kyrgyzstan is an important factor in regional security and sustainable development throughout Central Asia.

Our countries share a common past and are building a common future. The peoples of Central Asia have historically been united by the aspiration for lasting peace, harmony and creativity for the benefit of future generations.

Sharing common goals, our countries are actively strengthening regional cooperation to expand trade, economic, investment, transport, communication, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as cross-border and interregional cooperation.

As we continue to strengthen Central Asian solidarity, we will always support the people of Kyrgyzstan in their quest for unity, peaceful, independent development and prosperity.
