Memorandum Signed
Akim of West Kazakhstan region Gali Iskaliev met with Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Guimaraes Gil Fernando Tainha Vieira. At the meeting the parties signed a memorandum and assessed the prospects for cooperation.
The development of agriculture is an urgent task today, and attracting foreign investors is one of the key issues for the further economic development of the region. At the meeting, the Akim (governor) of the region told the delegation about the investment opportunities and conditions created for foreign investors in the region. The participants noted an enormous potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of agribusiness and in implementation of infrastructure projects.
- Mr. Consul, we are glad to welcome you. Back in April, at the meeting we discussed the prospects for new cooperation. We are expecting implementation of a major project - the construction of a large poultry farm, producing broiler meat. It should be noted that this is not the only project in the region, the priority task is to develop necessary infrastructure, including overhaul of highways and repair of bridges on regional roads. The poultry farm will be built with private investments, although the infrastructure projects will be implemented on the basis of public-private partnership. We need to establish close cooperation to share our experiences and to expand existing ties. Besides, Portuguese partners can share advanced technologies with Kazakhstan. I sincerely believe in fruitful joint cooperation and implementation of major investment projects in the region, - said G. Iskaliev.
As Gil Fernando Tainha Vieira noted, innovative technologies in growing poultry and modern equipment will be used for construction of the poultry farm. The two companies, «Verny» and «IMCI +», are investing into the project at once.
- The purpose of our visit is to sign a Memorandum between the major entrepreneurs of Portugal and the West Kazakhstan Oblast Akimat. We intend to implement several investment projects in your region, which has a great potential for attracting foreign direct investments. I would also like to express my special gratitude to the Representative Office of the Kazakh Invest in WKO for the information and assistance provided, - said the Consul.
