Kazakhstan’s Export Potential and Comprehensive Cooperation Discussed with the Speaker of Malaysia’s Lower House of Parliament

On December 18, 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, Bulat Sugurbayev, met with the Speaker of the Lower House of the Malaysian Parliament, YB Tan Sri Dato' (Dr.) Johari Abdullah.

During the meeting, both parties reflected on the achievements of the year and highlighted the increased engagement at various levels, following the meeting between the President of Kazakhstan, K. Tokayev, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, A. Ibrahim, in Astana in May this year, as well as the Kazakh-Malaysian business roundtable led by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan O. Bektenov and his Malaysian counterparts.

Discussions focused on plans for 2025, particularly in light of Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN. Ambassador Sugurbayev stressed the significance of strengthening economic ties between Central Asia and ASEAN, identifying key areas of cooperation, including the export of halal products from Kazakhstan, boosting tourism between the two nations, and expanding transport connectivity.

The pivotal role of parliamentary friendship groups was acknowledged, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to intensifying collaboration through inter-parliamentary diplomacy.
