The award has reached its hero

On May 11, 2020, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ukraine Darkhan Kaletaev, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, met with the leadership of the Ukrainian search organization named Historical Search Association “Unknown Soldier”.

During the meeting, the organization’s head Andrei Pulin handed the Kazakhstani diplomat the medal For Battle Merit, owned by a native of East Kazakhstan Oblast Babagumar Iskakov. The Historical Search Association “Unknown Soldier” found this award at the battle site in one of the regions of western Ukraine. The owner of the medal was identified by its number.

B.Iskakov went through the whole war and served in the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the medal For Battle Merit for participating in battles in Ukraine from August 14 to September 29, 1943.

D.Kaletaev thanked the search group for their painstaking and noble work in restoring the names of the heroically fallen Red Army soldiers.

The medal will be delivered to the relatives of a Kazakhstani fighter who currently live in Kazakhstan.
