Nur-Sultan to host 8th session of the Assembly of Parties to the International Anti-Corruption Academy

On September 19, the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Anti-Corruption Service) held a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Opening the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko noted the consistent and systematic activities of the state to eradicate corruption, as highlighted in the State of the Nation Address by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on September 2. Mr Vassilenko also noted that the country's leadership had decided to join the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe, with the procedure being formalized in the near future.

In turn, First Deputy Chairman of the Agency, Olzhas Bektenov, informed the diplomatic community that the 8th session of the Assembly of Parties of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) would be held on October 2-4 in Nur-Sultan.

Delivering the speech, he emphasized the importance and need for an international exchange of experiences and best practices in combating corruption in a rapidly changing modern world.

New approaches require high-quality anti-corruption education and professional training, as well as research to find new forms of combating corruption and its prevention.

The Academy, established in 2010, has achieved significant success in this direction and has attracted the attention of the international community.

It is unique in combining the status of an international organization and an educational institution. Today, 75 countries and three international organizations are members of the Assembly.

“By providing a venue for the next meeting of the Assembly, we strive not only to support the implementation of the Academy’s mission, but also to preserve the experience gained with the participation of many countries and pass it on to a new generation of professionals,” Mr Bektenov noted.
