Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan met with the Ambassador of the Netherlands

NUR-SULTAN, July 26, 2019 — Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko presented the Scroll of Honour to Ambassador of the Netherlands, Dirk Jan Kop, who is completing his diplomatic mission in our country.

It has been underlined that during his three years of work in Kazakhstan Ambassador Kop made a significant contribution to strengthening bilateral relations, as is evidenced by the expansion of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The Netherlands is the largest investor and one of the largest trade partners of Kazakhstan. In addition to the energy sphere, the expansion of cooperation in agriculture that is already being implemented is very promising. The World Trade Center in Nur-Sultan launched in May 2019 is another important project with Dutch investors.

Deputy Minister Vassilenko expressed his gratitude to the Netherlands for supporting Kazakhstan’s initiatives and stressed the country’s intention in further expanding the cooperation both on bilateral and international levels.

Kazakhstan and the Netherlands have been efficiently interacting during the non-permanent membership of both countries in the United Nations Security Council in 2018. In early July, in the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Meeting in Slovakia, Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov met with his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok, where they discussed strengthening political and economic cooperation, as well as scheduling the high-level visits in the coming months.

Deputy Minister Vassilenko wished his Dutch colleague a success in his future diplomatic service, noting that Ambassador Kop will always be a welcome guest in Kazakhstan.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands thanked the leadership of Kazakhstan for effective cooperation and support of its work in strengthening Kazakhstan-Netherlands cooperation.
