On June 22 this year on the territory of the memorial complex "Height of Marshal I. Konev" in the Kharkiv region, the solemn opening of the exhibition stand "The contribution of Kazakhstanis to the liberation of Ukraine from Nazi invaders and to the restoration of its national economy" took place.
The event was organized by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kharkiv with the support of the Embassy and the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan in order to present to the public the historical facts and material exhibits of the events of that time. This was preceded by a long-term work of the Kharkiv national public association "Birlik" on the search for the soldiers of Kazakhstan who died and disappeared in the battles near Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region. Thanks to their efforts, justice was restored in relation to the 106th Akmola cavalry division, which until recently was considered "lost".
The exhibition stand reveals the history of the fighting brotherhood of the peoples of Kazakhstan and Ukraine, demonstrates the contribution of Kazakhstan to the liberation of Ukraine and the restoration of the national economic complex of the country. Rare archival photographs of the war years have been posted, including the heroes of the Soviet Union who performed their deeds in Ukraine. A separate stand is dedicated to the partisan movement, including Kasym Kaysenov, the legendary partisan "Vasya".
Opening the event, General Director of the Memorial Complex Volodymyr Gavryushenko noted the importance of this event for the development of Kazakhstani-Ukrainian relations. He stressed that the memory of the soldiers-liberators from Nazi Germany is appreciated and honored in Ukraine. People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Yevhen Pyvovarov expressed gratitude to the people of Kazakhstan for their enormous contribution to the liberation of Ukraine and respect for history, veterans and home front workers.
Toktar Igembaev, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, noted the need for such events for the new generations to not only learn from the tragedy of the war years, but also to be brought up on the example of courage and selfless love for the Motherland of their heroic ancestors. Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan Emin Najafli expressed the hope that the exhibition will expand the knowledge of museum guests and become the foundation for further joint projects. “Let's not forget that everyone who remembers and honors the past has a future,” - he said.
Within the framework of the event, a documentary chronicle about the role of Kazakhstanis in the liberation of Ukraine and a concert program from the songs of the war years were presented.
