The XXXIII Session of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan named «Unity. Creation. Progress» was chaired by Mr.Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was attended by Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament from the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, heads and members of republican ethnic and cultural associations, volunteers of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, as well as regional delegates of the Assembly via videoconference.
Mr.Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the large-scales of work carried out to overcome the consequences of floods in a number of regions of the country. He emphasized that from the first days of the occurrence of the natural disaster, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan has been conducting active and coordinated work, and all this is a living embodiment of solidarity and mutual assistance of citizens.
As the President stated, despite the emerging complex challenges and threats, our country will firmly implement its strategic goals and objectives. A long way of systemic political reforms has been completed in a short period of time. As a result, all branches of Government have started working in a new coordinate system, the center of which is the protection and promotion of legitimate interests, human rights and freedoms. The transition to a new economic model has begun, which is based on the principles of justice, inclusiveness, pragmatism and lays a solid foundation for improving the well-being of the whole nation.
The agenda of the current session of the Assembly is designated as «Unity. Creation. Progress.». These three words very accurately and succinctly reflect the essence of our strategic course. According to Him, unity and solidarity have always been and will always be the main values and the constant guideline of all state policy.
He pointed out a number of urgent tasks that need to be focused on to achieve.
The Head of State considers it necessary to synchronize the activities of the Assembly with the new humanitarian and ideological doctrine.
The President drew attention to the expanding global cataclysm, the growing confrontation between various states in the military-political, trade-economic and even cultural and humanitarian spheres. It is also important to create an atmosphere of intolerance in society towards any manifestations of ethnic exclusivity and isolation, especially provocations and attempts to discriminate against citizens on linguistic, ethnic, religious or cultural backgrounds.
Kassym–Jomart Tokayev pointed out the need to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Assembly and strengthen its interaction with Government agencies, Parliament and Maslikhats. It is also necessary to consistently strengthen the role of the Assembly in making state decisions, supporting the reforms in the country, carry out practical activities to identify and prevent possible ethnic and social tension, as well as strengthen its position as a leading institution of social integration and active patriotism.
Summing up his speech, the Head of State noted that in these busy weeks the country is undergoing a nationwide test of strength and ability to overcome this unprecedented natural cataclysm with honor. And our people, united in the days of trials, will take a decisive step into the era of renewal and progress, into a better future.
