The Head of State received the Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud

During the meeting, the prospects for the development of energy and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia were discussed.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Kazakh-Saudi relations have reached an unprecedented level. He recalled that his agreements with the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, gave a powerful impetus to bilateral cooperation in all sectors.

– We consider your visit as a symbol of friendship and close ties between the two states. I am still very positively impressed by my visit to your great country. The visit was really successful. We have reached agreements on many issues, first of all, on cooperation in such a key area as energy. I am confident in the bright future of our relations. Our cooperation is of a strategic nature. I would like to take this opportunity to convey my best wishes to His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, - the Head of State noted.

In his turn, Abdulaziz bin Salman thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome.

– We highly appreciate the bilateral relations with Kazakhstan, which have deep historical roots. Saudi Arabia was among the first countries to extend a helping hand to Kazakhstan, which had just gained its independence, - the Minister said.

Mohammed Abunayyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi company ACWA Power, who took part in the meeting, spoke about the prospects of a joint investment project for the construction of a 1 GW wind farm in the Zhetysu region, as well as plans for cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of "green" energy.

Following the meeting, an agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the implementation of a joint project for the construction of a wind farm.
