Kazakhstan-Finland: New horizons for cooperation in the forest industry

On November 11-14, 2024, Ambassador of Kazakhstan A.Abdraimov made a working trip to the cities of Vieremä, Kajaani and Joensuu.

During the visits, meetings were held with a number of Finnish companies and business representatives in the forestry industry, as well as with local authorities in Kajaani.

One of the key meetings was a meeting with the leadership of Ponsse, the world leader in the production of forestry equipment. During this meeting discussions focused on expanding cooperation in forestry and exploring potential opportunities to introduce advanced technologies in this industry.

The Ambassador also met with the leadership of Lahtinen Forest Oy, a company specializing in forest resource management. Discussions covered the exchange of expertise and opportunities to bring in innovative approaches for the sustainable forestry development.

A meeting was held with the Rector of the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) Mati Sarén. KAMK is an educational institution actively engaged in training highly qualified specialists in the fields of business, technology, health care, etc. According to the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, KAMK ranked first among Finnish universities of applied sciences in Finland in 2023.

At the meeting with the Rector of KAMK, the prospects of academic exchange and cooperation programs in the field of education aimed at strengthening professional ties between Kazakhstan and Finland were discussed. The issues of developing cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence were also considered.
