Interregional cooperation development discussed in the city of Lahti

Lahti, September 17, 2024 –Ambassador of Kazakhstan Azamat Abdraimov, as part of the Kazakh delegation consisting of deputies of the Maslikhat of Almaty and representatives of Kazakhstani companies, met with the Mayor of Lahti Niko Kyynäräinen.

The city of Lahti is an excellent example of a successful environmental transformation. In 2021, it was recognized as the European Green Capital. Its ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2025 deserves special attention.

At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of interregional cooperation in the field of environmental protection, as well as exchanged views on improving environmental sustainability. At the same time, the Kazakh side was particularly interested in Lahti’s experience in the field of green energy and waste disposal with its subsequent processing into energy (waste-to-energy).

At the end of the meeting, the Kazakhstani side invited Mayor N. Kyynäräinen to visit Almaty.
