Kazakhstan and Finland strengthen cooperation in the field of meteorology

Helsinki - Ambassador of Kazakhstan Azamat Abdraimov met with Director General of the Finnish Meteorological Institute Petteri Taalas. 

The Finnish Meteorological Institute is a leading body of the country in the fields of meteorology, air quality, climate change, Earth observation, marine and Arctic research.

Professor Petteri Taalas served twice as the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (2016-2019 and 2020-2023).

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and key issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of meteorology, paying special attention to air quality management, as well as forecasting and prevention of floods and forest fires.

The parties confirmed their interest in intensifying cooperation and expressed readiness to promote joint projects.
