The Ambassador of Kazakhstan met with the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Vietnam

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Tumysh held a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Do Duc Duy.

During the meeting, some topical issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries and prospects for its expansion and development were discussed.

In particular, the topics of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of ecology, environmental protection, mineral and other types of natural resources, mining/mining industry, as well as within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference (also the UN Climate Summit, COP-29), which will be held on November 11-22 this year in Baku, were touched upon. The Minister informed that he plans to visit the capital of Azerbaijan in November this year as the head of the Vietnamese delegation. In addition, the parties also discussed the major flood in Kazakhstan in the spring of 2004 and the September typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm in recent years that hit Southeast Asia, as well as possible options for operational cooperation and mutual assistance in the event of such natural disasters.

K.Tumysh informed Do Duc Duy about the key aspects of the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s State of the Nation Address “Just Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Social Optimism” dated September 2, as well as about the planned National referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan on October 6 this year.

Minister Duy noted: “I am impressed by the scale of political and economic reforms in Kazakhstan, as well as the expected great positive practical impact from the expansion of the use of the atom for peaceful purposes, which will have a multiplier effect with the construction of an environmentally friendly power plant in the south of Kazakhstan.” He also added: “This year is marked by the 65th anniversary of the visit of the First President of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh to Kazakhstan in 1959. In this context, taking into account historical friendship and cooperation, the SRV supports Kazakhstan's initiatives, encourages the exchange of experience, cooperation and mutual assistance, and will continue to strive to deepen bilateral Kazakh-Vietnamese relations between the two fraternal states and peoples.”

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect and was aimed at raising mutual cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
