Every year, May 31, Kazakhstan marks the day of remembrance of the victims of political repression and famine.
On this occasion, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made an address.
«Today, on May 31, our historical memory turns to one of the darkest pages of the national chronicle. The political repressions of the first half of the last century distorted the fate of millions of people - citizens of the former Soviet Union. In Kazakhstan, more than a hundred thousand people were unjustly convicted, about a quarter of them received death sentences», - the President of Kazakhstan said in his address.
