Kazakhstan – The Hidden Gem of Asia: Tourism, Nature, and Culture at a Round Table in the Netherlands

The Hague, October 25, 2024 – The celebration of Kazakhstan’s Republic Day took place at a round table event titled “Kazakhstan’s Tourism Potential,” attended by experts from the tourism industry, representatives of Dutch tour companies, and the diplomatic corps.

Arjan Langedijk, an international representative of the national company Kazakh Tourism, gave a presentation showcasing Kazakhstan’s diverse tourism landscape, which includes ski resorts, picturesque regions, ancient cities, and vast steppes ideal for both active and business tourism.

During the round table, key directions of Kazakhstan’s tourism strategy were also presented, such as improving infrastructure, developing environmentally safe tourism, and promoting the country as an attractive tourist destination in Eurasia.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, spoke about the dynamic nature of bilateral relations with the host country. He emphasized that the favorable conditions created by Kazakhstan for joint projects with Dutch companies have expanded opportunities not only in traditionally appealing sectors of the economy, such as natural resource development, but also in attracting attention to tourism.

In October 2024, Kazakhstan was included in the prestigious Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2025 list, which highlights its growing popularity on the world tourism map. Prominent publications like Conde Nast Traveler, Wanderlust, and The New York Times have also recognized Kazakhstan and Almaty as key tourist destinations, praising their natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and well-developed travel infrastructure.

Participants of the event appreciated both the warm and festive atmosphere created in honor of Kazakhstan’s Republic Day and the informative nature of the round table, showing considerable interest in the tourism opportunities available in our country for Dutch travelers, including cultural routes, mountain tourism, and unique journeys through Kazakhstan’s national parks.
